Frequently asked questions
Q : How do I order a skip?
A : You can order a skip by telephone on one of the numbers in the contact page, or online by e-mailing us
Q : What size do I need ?
A : This is not so easy for us on the end of a phone as we cannot see what you have, but if you can give us an idea we will do our best to help you get the right size skip for the job. Be realistic about what you have to throw away , skips are to be level loaded so they can be transported safely along the highways
Q : Where can skips be placed ?
A : Skips can be placed on any land that you own, driveway, garden, over a small fence or wall, a rear entry. If it is council owned land like a highway, grass verge, pavement, etc it would require a council permit. Click here for details. Sometimes a permit may not be granted and it could be possible to arrange a wait & load facility service
Q : How long may I keep the skip for ?
A : If the skip is placed on your property you can keep the skip as long as you want within reason, if it is to be placed on council land then it would be a maximum of 28 days on 1 permit. If you require the skip any longer you would have to purchase a new permit .
Q : Will my property be damaged ?
A : Of course we would like to say no, but there are certain situations where there is a possibility that it may, whilst are drivers take great care.
Some examples to think about
1 - If a 9 tonne lorry is driving over slabs there is a good chance they may not break. But if you are loading the skip with 6-7 tonne of soil add the two together, 18 tonnes stand a very good chance of breaking slabs
2 – You may have a tarmac drive that is very old and thin , again the weight may well sink into the drive or on a hot day the tar may scuff very easily
Always think before you ask a driver to place a skip just for your convenience!!!!! Damage may occur
Q : What access does the vehicle require to deliver a skip?
A : The lorries delivering skips are heavy goods vehicles and usually require an access of 9 to 10 feet to be very safe, although they will fit between less you may need to guide the drivers in and out if for example they need to fold there mirrors in to get between a smaller gap. Again always give as much access as possible. Also be aware of overhanging bushes, telephone wires, satellite dishes etc, these are all obstacles for the vehicles.
Q : When and how do I pay?
A : You must pay for the skip on arrival either by cash or cheque , if you pay by cheque it will not be collected until the cheque has cleared
Soon you will be able to pay by debt card , visa ,mastercard contact us for more info about these options
Q : How long does it take to get a skip?
A : if the skip is on your property we can usually deliver within the hour (local). If it is on council land it requires a permit which can take anything up to 3 days. click here for details
